Along the Piterskaya Road
Name “Piterskaya” existed before the beginning of XX century, the informal name of Tverskaya Street in St. Petersburg and its continuation in Moscow, came from the fact that this road was used for traveling from Moscow to St. Petersburg.
It is a very happy song. I usually joke during shows that all Russian songs are either about love or food. Well, this song is about both! This song is sung by a girl expecting her beloved to arrive soon on “troika” and for him she has some “sweet little vodka” and “ukha” a traditional Russian fish soup.
